About Phil Mather: 

Phil Mather possesses the unique qualities that create a great racecar driver.  His engineering background allows him to technically evaluate the racecar and help determine what will help improve performance.  As the son of a long time businessman and entrepreneur, he has the insight to help sell and promote products for his partners and supporters.  And having a customer support and instructing background, he can talk to customers to assist and educate them.  This rare combination of qualities also allows him to think outside of the box for creative solutions for his marketing partner's needs, so that they can get the visibility and increased bottom line that they are looking for. 

Racing and Instructing:

2016 - Present: Driving instructor with Rally Sport Region PCA, Motorsport Safety Foundation Level 2 Certification.

Driving instructor with Rally Sport Region PCA, Fastraks Exotic Driving Experience, and Safer Driving 4 Life.

Driving instructor with Rally Sport Region PCA and with Fastraks Exotic Driving Experience.  Raced a SpecNeon at Waterford Hills Raceway, finishing 2nd in the Championship standings with two victories.  Competeted in the SCCA Charge of the Headlight Brigade 13 Hour Endurance Race at VIR, finishing 5th in class and 18th overall.

Driving instructor with multiple clubs.  June - 2nd place finish in his professional debut at the Emco Gears Classic in the Skip Barber class of the Playboy Mazda MX-5 Cup at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course.

Driving instructor with the Rally Sport Region Porsche Club. 
Competed with Long Road Racing in the Devil in the Dark 12 Hour at New Jersey Motorsports Park.  1st in class at the SCCA Charge of the Headlight Brigade 13 Hour Endurance Race again with Long Road Racing at Virginia International Raceway.

Driving instructor with the Rally Sport Region Porsche Club. 
Skip Barber MAZDASPEED Challenge races at Mid-Ohio, finishing 1st and 2nd.

Competed with the prestigious Skip Barber Racing Series in the MAZDASPEED Challenge Summer Series, earning three victories, 2nd place in the overall championship, and 10 podium finishes out of 12 races. He was also invited to the Skip Barber MAZDASPEED Shootout, finishing 2nd overall in the nation.

: Finished fourth in the Great Lakes Division National Championship standings and 18th overall in the country at the SCCA National Championship Runoffs.

: Moved up to the SCCA National Level. He constructed a new racecar from the ground up, completing all of the assembly work himself. Several sponsors helped him earn seventh place in the Great Lakes Division points, earning him an invitation to the SCCA National Championship Runoffs where he finished 25th in the nation for SpecMiata.

: Break-out year; earned three class wins, including two overall wins, and became the SCCA Great Lakes Division Regional Champion in SpecMiata. Founded Team MatherMotorsport, LLC.

: Consistently finished in the top five in fields of over 20 cars; finished 6th in regional points.

: Moved from California to Michigan and began racing with the Central Division; finished 7th in regional points standings.

: Raced a second season with CalClub; finished in the top ten in points.

: Earned SCCA Regional License in the Southern Pacific Division of the SCCA with CalClub; finished third in his third race ever, and top ten in the regional championship points standings.

: Upon graduation built his first racecar, a 1990 Mazda Miata; used his five years of experience in the Formula SAE at RIT to build a fast and reliable car to learn how to race.

1996 - 2001:
SCCA Autocross competitions. Formula SAE Competitions in Detroit, England, and Australia with the Rochester Institute of Technology.

1989 - 1996
: Competed in BMX racing where he accumulated over 20 victories and a state championship.

2016 - Present: Automotive engineer at international part supplier specializing in advanced damper development. Advanced driving permission at several OEM proving grounds.

2004 - 2016:
